Job Summary

Family Promise of Hawaiʻi is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working to prevent and end homelessness for families with children. Our mission is to help homeless and low-income families in Hawaiʻi achieve sustainable independence by mobilizing existing community resources and support. We offer emergency shelter, rental assistance, prevention/diversion services, and holistic case management.


The Site Coordinator will facilitate after-hours access (mornings, evenings, weekends) to our Navigation Center, located just outside of Chinatown, allowing families in our programs and volunteers to use the facility. The Coordinator may also use FPH’s van to provide transportation for families between the Navigation Center and off-site overnight shelter facilities. The Coordinator will ensure that families and volunteers follow the guidelines of the Navigation Center and will report any issues to the Director of Family Services.


Essential Job Functions

  • Operate the Navigation Center

    • Unlock the office in the morning and secure the office at the end of the day.

    • Effectively communicate with the guests regarding FPH program guidelines.

    • Supervise volunteers as they interact with families at the facility.

  • Transport

    • Drive the company van with FPH guests to various shelter sites at the end of the day.

  • Maintenance

    • Ensure that all FPH guests are keeping up with their facility maintenance chores.

    • Clearly communicate with staff when inventory for cleaning supplies is low.

    • Stock donations and distribute to families as necessary.


The preferred work schedule for this position is as follows: Monday, Thursday, Friday: 6-8 am, 4-8 pm; Saturday, Sunday: 2-8 pm. This totals 30 hours/week. The schedule and hours are negotiable up to 40 hours/week.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A knowledge of homelessness and customer service.

  • Self-motivated and passionate about the mission of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi.

  • Empathetic and able to empower families’ choices.

  • Detail-oriented, with solid communication skills.

  • Team player who works well with a variety of personalities.

  • Able to accept feedback and adaptable to change.

  • Flexible with work schedule.

  • Valid driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Fluent in another language, particularly Pacific Islander languages.

  • An interest, training, or background in case management or social work.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate for this part-time position is $22.
