Job Summary
The Family Support Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact for families seeking assistance and will coordinate services and facility operations for families affected by the August 2023 Maui wildfires. Based on Maui, the Coordinator will manage program inquiries, determine eligibility, and make appropriate referrals to empower families on their journey to recovery. The Coordinator will also coordinate with other staff to organize facility and supply needs, support families using the facility, and supervise volunteers at the facility. This position reports to the Maui Family Services Manager.
Family Promise of Hawaiʻi (FPH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to transform the lives of families with children in Hawaiʻi facing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and support. Founded in 2005, FPH serves hundreds of families on Oʻahu and Maui through interim housing, rental assistance, case management, and wraparound services.

This full-time position on Maui will begin on May 10, 2025 and end on April 4, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Program Inquiries (50%)
Answer FPH’s intake phone line, respond to email inquiries seeking assistance, and greet families seeking walk-in services.
Gather basic information about each family and determine if they might be eligible for an FPH program. Make internal and external referrals as appropriate.
Input family information into FPH’s data tracking system.
Service Coordination (40%)
Coordinate with other FPH staff to facilitate donations (food, supplies, etc.), volunteer schedules, and other facility needs.
Support families in understanding FPH program guidelines and expectations regarding facility usage, including their facility maintenance chores.
Supervise and support volunteers as they interact with families at the facility.
Stock and organize supplies for families. Coordinate with other staff and community partners when supplies are running low.
Distribute supplies to families as needed. Track requests and ensure that families receive supplies designated to the appropriate program.
Facility Operations (10%)
Unlock the building in the morning and/or secure the office at the end of the day, depending on the position’s hours.
Check the mail and sign for deliveries.
Coordinate with the Chief of Staff for facility maintenance needs.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Working knowledge of disaster recovery services; experience working directly with families or individuals impacted by disasters.
An interest, training, or background in case management or social work.
Eligibility
The Coordinator must be based on Maui. This position is offered through a partnership with AmeriCorps, which has the following requirements:
Be 17 years or older.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be working towards one.
Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status).
Selected participants are offered a conditional acceptance and must meet AmeriCorps criminal history check requirements.

Living Allowance and Benefits
AmeriCorps provides an annual living allowance of $37,440 ($18/hour) while you are serving in this program. The living allowance is paid biweekly and deposited directly into your bank account.
