About the event

Hawaiʻi has a childhood homelessness crisis. Statewide, the number of children and families experiencing homelessness has been increasing every year since 2020 — at a time when the number of single adults experiencing homelessness has actually been decreasing. Among residents experiencing homelessness, one in every five is a child. Many are infants and toddlers who are part of working families struggling to make ends meet; other families are fleeing domestic violence, struggling with health and caregiving needs, or displaced from natural disasters.


The new Childhood Homelessness Coalition brings together partners across Hawaiʻi to create a unified strategy to prevent and end homelessness for children and their families. This includes homeless service providers; partners in education, early childhood, public health, family strengthening, and other fields; affordable housing advocates; and any others concerned with childhood homelessness.
