HONOLULU, HI – The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, as trustee of the Public Health Fund (PHF), has awarded $50,000 to Family Promise of Hawaiʻi, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and ending family homelessness across Oahu.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Chamber of Commerce for its generosity and dedication to helping ensure every child has a home,” said Ryan Catalani, Executive Director of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi. “Housing is healthcare, and young children are at the greatest risk of experiencing homelessness. With family homelessness on the rise, this grant will provide more children and families with a pathway to housing, which will improve public health for our entire community.”
Family Promise of Hawaii provides shelter, housing stabilization, and prevention programs that help families with children secure safe, stable housing. With several facilities around Oʻahu, the nonprofit delivers case management, rental assistance, financial literacy education, and wraparound services designed to keep families together and on a path toward long-term self-sufficiency.
“Stable housing is one of the most powerful determinants of health and economic security,” said Sherry Menor, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. “Family Promise of Hawaii is doing the critical, hands-on work of keeping families safely housed, supporting parents, and protecting children from the lasting impacts of homelessness. Through the Public Health Fund, we are proud to invest in solutions that strengthen family stability, reduce long-term public costs, and create healthier outcomes for our entire community.”
Administered by the Chamber, the Public Health Fund provides grants to Oahu-based nonprofit organizations for projects related to health education, research, and legislative advocacy. Each year, the volunteer PHF Advisory Committee reviews applications and recommends recipients to the Chamber’s Board of Directors for final approval. More than $100,000 in grants are awarded annually.
