Fundraiser to be held during the national Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week
HONOLULU, November 1, 2022 — A popular Waikiki eatery is teaming up with a local nonprofit to help families overcome homelessness.
The second annual “Picnic with a Promise,” on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, is raising funds for Family Promise of Hawaiʻi during the national Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week. Since 2006, the organization has provided emergency shelter, rental assistance, and a range of compassionate services to children and families experiencing homelessness.
Oʻahu residents are invited to order a special picnic-style meal, generously provided by Tucker & Bevvy, for pickup or delivery. All proceeds will go directly to support Family Promise of Hawaiʻi. (Meals can be ordered online: familypromisehawaii.org/picnic)
“Homelessness is one of the most urgent issues facing children and families in our community,” said Ryan Catalani, executive director of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi. “The Picnic with a Promise is an easy way to be part of the solution to family homelessness. Every meal will help to build a brighter future for children and families.”
Founded in 2013, Tucker & Bevvy has two locations at the Park Shore Hotel and Hyatt Regency Waikiki, serving its trademark picnic meals using local, organic produce and simple, straightforward, and clean ingredients.
“We all recognize children should not be homeless. Business leaders in our state need to support ending family homelessness in any way possible,” said Cecily Ho Sargent, Tucker & Bevvy owner and Family Promise of Hawaiʻi board member. “Tucker and Bevvy’s involvement with Family Promise has always been about inspiring others to participate in making sure all children have a home.”
The 2022 Picnic with a Promise is supported by Presenting Sponsors American Savings Bank, Bank of Hawaiʻi Foundation, HEI, and HMSA; Signature Sponsors Hawaiian Host Group, Humana, and Hunt Companies; and Premier Sponsors Hawaiʻi Gas and Hawaiian Electric.
