HONOLULU, February 13, 2026 — Nareit Hawaii was honored with the Luminary Award for their efforts to expand affordable housing by the nonprofit Family Promise of Hawaiʻi.
Nareit Hawaii received the award at Family Promise of Hawaiʻi’s Brighter Futures Gala last evening, February 12, which took place at the Hoʻokupu Center.
“On behalf of Nareit Hawaii, we are honored to be presented with the Luminary Award from Family Promise of Hawaiʻi,” said Gladys Quinto Marrone. “This recognition reflects the collective contribution of our many REIT partners and the Nareit Foundation who made it possible for the Nareit Hawaii Community Giving Initiative to support the affordable housing solutions that the ʻOhana Navigation Center is providing to families. We believe the foundation of every family’s success is having stability, hope, and a place of their own to call home. We are proud to stand alongside Family Promise of Hawaiʻi and thank them for allowing us to share in their commitment to uplift families and make Hawai‘i a better place to grow and thrive.”
Keiki under age 5 are at greatest risk of experiencing homelessness, according to federal data, and an estimated 1 in 30 young children in Hawaiʻi experience homelessness annually. The annual Luminary Award recognizes a community leader who takes significant steps toward addressing this crisis of child and family homelessness.
“We are deeply grateful to Nareit Hawaii for lighting the way to a Hawaiʻi where every child has a home,” said Ryan Catalani, Executive Director of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi. “Affordable housing is one of Hawaiʻi’s most pressing challenges, and when our community comes together, we can truly create brighter futures for our children and families experiencing homelessness.”
With programs on Oʻahu and Maui, Family Promise of Hawaiʻi serves hundreds of families annually through emergency shelter, rental assistance, and case management. The Brighter Futures Gala is Family Promise of Hawaiʻi’s signature annual fundraiser, which this year was generously supported by local businesses including Impact Sponsors Alexander & Baldwin, First Hawaiian Bank, HMSA, Nareit Hawaii, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and The Queen’s Health Systems.
The 2026 Brighter Futures Gala was also sponsored by Hawaii Pacific Health, Hunt Companies, Alaska x Hawaiian Airlines, American Savings Bank, Carlsmith Ball LLP, Elevatus Architecture, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union, HEI, Kaiser Permanente, Spectrum, and UnitedHealthcare. Accel Events and Tents, Aloha Culinary Group, Hawaiʻi Flower Lei, Honolulu Cookie Compnay, and Kona Brewing provided in-kind support.
